The highest mountains in southern Britain are found in Powys' Brecon Beacons.
Pen Y Fan is by far the most popular and there are many enjoyable walks to be had in the Central Beacons.
The sedimentary geology of the area results in a clear distinction between the landscape of the Brecon Beacons and its northern counterpart- Snowdonia.
In addition to the windswept peaks, waterfalls and woodlands add to the beauty of this massively underrated area.
